A Case of thyroid storm after administration of radioactive ^(131)I

Abstract
Thyroid storm is sudden severe exacerbate of hyperthyroidism--wh-i-ch may occur as a feature of the basic disease process or coincidental association of infection, trauma and surgery etc. , In the absence of treatment, and even with, therapy, the illness carries high fatality, The patient develop severe hyperkeinesis, tachycardia, hyperpyrexia, vomiting, shock and may drift into coma. Treatment should be begun at once as antithyroid drug, antipyretics, antimicrobials and corticosteroids etc.
The patient was 40 years old woman, house wife who has had hyperthyroidism for one year. She had been given 131I 4mCi per oral for the purpose of treatment. About 30 hours later, the thyroid storm was occurred.
There were good results by, the administration of antimicrobials, antithyroid drugs, hydrocortison, antipyretics, fluid and electrolyte therapy.
